Ready, set, trike! St. Theresa Pre-K 4 students prepare to get their wheels in motion.
CORAL GABLES | Pre-kindergarten students at St. Theresa School rode their bicycles on Jan. 20 in the name of children around the country who physically cannot due to severe health issues.
The school’s Trike-a-Thon, in its 19th year at St. Theresa, raised nearly $50,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital toward the hospital mission to ensure that no child is denied treatment because of a family's ability to pay.
“The students learn bicycle safety lessons provided by St. Jude but, most importantly, they learn a very valuable lesson on the importance of helping others,” said Carmen Sanchez, coordinator of the Trike-a-Thon.
Each family is charged with fundraising to support their student’s ride. In turn, students are told that each is riding to support another child who is not well enough to ride on their own.
Over the past two decades, St. Theresa students and families have raised more than $375,700 for the hospital.
