CORAL GABLES | Yes, you read that right: it's a Pig-Nic, not picnic! During the unique Catholic Schools Week kick-off event at St. Theresa School, students' parents and Church of the Little Flower parishioners created teams to showcase their pig-roasting skills.
At the 18th annual event in Coral Gables Jan. 26, 2025, the competition went beyond just pigs, with teams coming up with themed booths, and vendors providing additional, free entertainment including a petting zoo, face painting, shaved ice, live music, arts and crafts, and more. Burnie the Miami Heat mascot even made a guest appearance.
The annual celebration is a community-wide, free event open not only to St. Theresa School and Church of the Little Flower Parish families, but also to all of Coral Gables. There is no registration fee for the teams, nor is there an entry fee. According to Charlene Conill, PR and marketing liaison, pastor Father Manny Alvarez "prides this event as being a completely free and fun event for the whole family."
