PARKLAND | With enrollment increasing 10 percent a year for the past four years, lack of space quickly became an issue at Mary Help of Christians School.
As a relatively new school, Mary Help of Christians had only one building to house Kindergarten through eighth grades. So Stephen Brown, the schools principal, and his team requested permission from the City of Parkland to add a number of modular units for expansion purposes. These modulars were rapidly approved and plans are now in place to situate them alongside the main school structure, primarily to house the administration team and multi-purpose meetings rooms.
"Until this year, our Kindergarten team resided in modular buildings alongside the church on the other side of our 26-acre campus," said Brown. "Its been my mission to have the entire student body in one place. This expansion ticks many boxes, including bringing all the grades together under one roof and offering additional meeting space to accommodate our increasing enrollment.
"Simultaneously, as part of this project, we will increase campus security and our main school playground will be refurbished," Brown added. "I thank the City of Parkland for its ongoing support and to the parents of our amazing students for having faith that we always have the best interests of their children at heart. These are exciting times for my staff and students as we continue our journey of excellence together."
