BOCA RATON | Six Miami seminarians were among the 13 men ordained transitional deacons by Bishop John Noonan of Orlando during a Mass April 16 at St. Joan of Arc Church in Boca Raton.
Transitional deacons are so called because they are on their way to ordination as priests, usually after completing a year of parish work and their seminary studies. All the new deacons are studying at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach.
Following are the names of the Miami deacons, their home parishes and the parish to which they have been assigned this coming year:
- Oswaldo Agudelo, of Little Flower, Coral Gables, will serve at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Doral
- Gary Delos Santos of St. Rose of Lima, Miami Shores, will serve at St. David, Davie
- Luis Flores of Our Lady of Lourdes, Miami, will serve at Assumption, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea
- Luis Pavón of St. Augustine, Coral Gables, will serve at Immaculate Conception, Hialeah
- Alexander Rivera of Our Lady of the Lakes, Miami Lakes, will serve at Nativity, Hollywood
- Juan Salazar of Our Lady of Lourdes, Miami, will serve at Our Lady of the Lakes, Miami Lakes.
