Schools' cheerleaders 'go pink' for breast cancer awareness

Nearly 100 to cheer at Pace High football game this Friday, Oct. 29

Msgr. Edward Pace High School's varsity cheerleaders decked themselves out in pink at the beginning of October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They will do so again at the Oct. 29 home football game, this time joined by cheerleaders from Immaculate Conception School in Hialeah.

Msgr. Edward Pace High School's varsity cheerleaders decked themselves out in pink at the beginning of October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They will do so again at the Oct. 29 home football game, this time joined by cheerleaders from Immaculate Conception School in Hialeah.


MIAMI GARDENS - Nearly 100 cheerleaders, students from Immaculate Conception School and Msgr. Edward Pace High School, will team up Friday, Oct. 29 to foster breast cancer awareness.

The teens, all clad in pink, will cheer together at the football game between Pace and Immaculata-La Salle High School. Kickoff time is 7:30 p.m. at the Pace field, 15600 N.W. 32 Ave., Miami Gardens.

All of the cheerleaders will be wearing pink shirts and performing cheers together. Collection boxes to support breast cancer awareness will be available before, during, and after the game.

Pace�s 34 varsity cheerleaders first �cheered in pink� Oct. 1, when they changed their usual attire to white football jerseys and pink pom-poms, officially turning October into �Pace Goes Pink!" month.

The Pace cheerleaders are led by coaches Lanita Borrero-Zeigler, Keyanna Hartley and Maytee Rodriguez. The Immaculate cheerleaders are coached by Amy Cao, an alumnus of Pace High.

The public is invited and media are welcome at this event.
