DAVIE | Celebrating liturgically the only week of the year we call holy, students, faculty and staff of St. Bonaventure gathered for various school activities.
On April 10, fifth grade students presented a living stations of the cross.
On April 12, all gathered for the weekly school Mass, where Father Ed Prendergast, pastor of St. Bonaventure, washed the feet of 12 students and reminded them that we should all be foot-washers, following the example Jesus left to all of us, and serving others in humility as Jesus did.
During the offertory, symbolic decanters of oil were brought up to remind the students of the holy oils brought back to St. Bonaventure after the chrism Mass, which was celebrated April 11 at St. Mary Cathedral. An explanation of each oil and its uses was given to the assembled community.
After Mass, using only background music, simple props and movement, eighth grade students re-enacted the Passion and Death of Jesus in mime.
