MIAMI SHORES | St. Rose of Lima School students are doing more than learning online during the coronavirus quarantine. They are serving others as well.
In partnership with neighboring St. Martha’s Food Pantry, the school hosted a food drive April 29. Students and parishioners drove through the school parking lot for a “socially distanced” drop off. More than 100 families participated in this act of kindness.
St. Martha’s Food Pantry typically feeds around 100 families in the greater Miami Shores area. Due to the economic turmoil resulting from the virus, the pantry is in need of donations.
St. Rose of Lima School will host another food drive Wednesday, May 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.“We encourage all of those able to come and donate any nonperishable food items,” said St. Rose’s principal, Stephen Brown.
