Three more sisters for Pierced Hearts

DORAL | Three young women made their first profession of vows with the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary during a Mass celebrated Feb. 2, 2023 – the feast of the Presentation of the Lord – at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, with Archbishop Thomas Wenski presiding.

After several years as postulants and novices, the three became the newest sisters in the growing community of women and men religious which began in the Archdiocese of Miami in 1990.

Here are brief biographies of the new Servants.

Sister Andrea Maria was born in Mexico as the second of three children. After her parents had a profound conversion, they decided to relocate to Miami, to be closer to the Pierced Hearts community. Sister Andrea had the gift of growing up being formed in their charism. During a Cenacle while on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, she had an encounter with the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. That’s when she knew that he was calling her to religious life within the institute. She returned with a great zeal for the things of the Lord and sought opportunities to serve alongside the Servants and prepare her heart to be totally Christ’s. She eagerly awaited her graduation from high school in May 2020 so she could enter the community and begin her formation as a Servant.

Through her participation in campus ministry, speaking with and serving alongside the Servants, she realized the Lord was calling her to give her life to him. She entered the institute after her graduation. Following her profession, she will be serving at Holy Spirit Neuman Center in Phoenix, Arizona, bringing the light of Christ to the students.

Sister Rose Marie grew up in El Paso, Illinois, the hometown of Venerable Fulton Sheen. In high school, she began working at a local nursing home and her heart expanded as she served its residents. After transferring to Illinois State University to finish her degree in food service management, she wholeheartedly became involved in their Neuman Center, where the Servants ministered. After attending their annual mission trips to the motherhouse in Miami, and a period of discernment, she followed the call of the Good Shepherd and moved to South Florida to begin her formation.
