Schedule of prayer services at St. Joseph
for those affected by condo collapse
Miami Beach ... (July 1, 2021) St. Joseph Church, the nearest Catholic church to the
partially collapsed Surfside condominium, has released the following schedule
of prayer services that will begin tomorrow, July 2, for those affected by
the collapse of the Champlain Towers South.
- The Angelus/Rosary: at noon Monday through Friday, in
English and Spanish.
- The Divine Mercy Chaplet: at 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
and Friday.
- Rosary in Spanish: Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
- Vespers (evening prayer): Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. in English.
- Vespers (evening prayer): Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Spanish.
St. Joseph Church, located at 8670 Byron Ave., Miami Beach, is
serving as a place of spiritual respite for members of the Surfside/Miami
Beach community – both Catholic and non-Catholic – who have been affected in
some way by the tragic partial collapse of the Champlain Towers South
condominium. St. Joseph is also accommodating fire rescue personnel and
journalists from around the world who are parking or camped out on its
premises.
The church will remain open daily from 8 a.m. – when Mass is
celebrated – until the conclusion of the last Mass each day. The last Mass is
at 7 p.m. on Thursday (in Spanish), 5:30 p.m. on Friday (in English), 7 p.m.
on Saturday (in Portuguese) and 6 p.m. on Sunday (in Spanish). A Mass in
Polish is celebrated on Sundays at 3 p.m.
Vespers and
Masses will be livestreamed on St. Joseph’s Facebook page, @saintjosephmiamibeach,
and YouTube channel, Saint Joseph Miami Beach.
