St. Brendan High

MIAMI | St. Brendan High School celebrated its largest signing day since 2015 when 14 student-athletes from the class of 2023 committed to continue their athletic careers in college.

Joined by their classmates, teammates, coaches, and family members in the Father Dennehy Gymnasium, these Sabres were celebrated for their outstanding academic and athletic achievements.

  • Emma Hencock, University of Miami, cross country/track and field
  • Sophia Mazza, University of Miami, cheerleading
  • Gustavo Matheus, Cowley Community College, boys' soccer
  • Alexander Perez, Belmont Abbey College, baseball
  • Sofia Sanchez, Saint Augustine's University, girls' volleyball

"We've established an athletic culture based on three core standards: discipline, accountability, and commitment,” said Kevin Esteban, the school's athletic director since 2018, an alumnus of the class of 2004, and former Sabre basketball coach. “In building and enhancing any program, consistency is crucial. The administration, our Sabre coaches, and athletic staff are committed to our standards and to the ongoing development of an exceptional athletic program for St. Brendan High School."
