MIAMI SHORES| The Office of Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Miami hosted a welcome gathering and commissioning event at the archdiocesan Pastoral Center on July 2, 2024 for seven newly named school principals.

At the day-long meeting, the group also attended Mass in the chapel at St. Martha Parish, celebrated by Father Milton Martinez, the newly appointed  archdiocesan director of vocations. In his homily, Father Martinez pointed out that as leaders of their schools, people will come to them as a source of guidance and calm when problems arise.

“When the storm is pouring, and we feel that our boat is rocking back and forth by the wave, let us communicate and connect with Jesus through prayer. And in prayer we are going to realize and receive the grace to know how to handle things,” said Father Martinez, who later blessed the group.

As another accompanying reminder, Superintendent Jim Rigg and the Office of Schools gifted each principal with a serenity prayer canvas.

Look for brief bios of the new principals in the back-to-school edition of the Florida Catholic, available in our parishes the weekend of Sept. 21-22, 2024.
