CORAL GABLES | People of faith throughout South Florida gathered May 5, 2022, to mark the National Day of Prayer.

At St. Augustine Church and Catholic Student Center in Coral Gables, Father Richard Vigoa, pastor, prayed with a group of around 65 parishioners after the noon Mass.

They prayed, he said, "for specific needs and intentions. We lifted each other up and prayed over each other."

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
