SAVANNAH | Archbishop Thomas Wenski presided at the vespers and witnessed the ordination the next day of one of his former priests in Orlando, Bishop Stephen Parkes.
Bishop Parkes and his brother, Bishop Gregory Parkes of St. Petersburg, were both Orlando priests when Archbishop Wenski was the diocesan bishop there, from 2004 to 2010.
In 2012, Bishop Gregory was named bishop of Pensacola-Tallahassee. He became bishop of St. Petersburg in 2016. On Sept. 23, 2020, his brother, Stephen, was ordained and installed as bishop of the Diocese of Savannah, Georgia.
