TALLAHASSEE | On March 3 and 4, over 300 Catholics took part in Catholic Days at the Capitol in Tallahassee. Participants met with legislators to advocate support for issues that are important to Florida's bishops - and benefitial to human life and dignity in the state.
By sending a message to your state lawmakers, you can help to amplify the efforts of Catholics at the capitol. Here are the four issues prioritized by the bishops:
- 24-hour reflection period before an abortion is performed, SB 724 (Flores) / HB 633 (Sullivan)
- Restoring the per-pupil scholarships for the VPK Program to 2007-2008 school-year funding levels
- Expansion of KidCare for lawfully residing immigrant children, SB 294 (Garcia) / HB 829 (La Rosa)
- Requiring a unanimous jury decision in order to recommend a sentence of death, SB 664 (Altman) / HB 139 (Rodriguez, J.)
