MIAMI | On April 9, 2022, the Saturday before Palm Sunday, the Malta Youth Corps hosted a Via Crucis from St. Augustine Parish and Catholic Student Center by the University of Miami to the Shrine of Our Lady of Charity next to Mercy Hospital, a walk of about 6 miles. The route went under the MetroRail alongside US-1 through downtown Coconut Grove and up South Bayshore Drive.
Over 100 high school students from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, St. Brendan and other archdiocesan schools participated in the walk. The 14 stations were designed by students from Our Lady of Lourdes.
The group was led by Jaclyn Don de Caceres, executive director of the Malta Youth Corps, and Father Richard Vigoa, chaplain of the Order of Malta. They were assisted by volunteers from UCat, the Catholic student organization at the University of Miami.
