Remembering Sister Lucia Ceccotti

Marian Center unveils dedicatory plaque

MIAMI | On September 17, the first anniversary of the death of Sister Lucia Ceccotti was celebrated at the Marian Center School and Services. With prayers, singing, and even a little bit of dancing, students and guests remembered Sister Lucia, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph Benedict Cottolengo. A dedicatory plaque was also unveiled, which was placed in front of a tree planted in her honor. Sister Lucia was the founder of the Marian Center School for people with intellectual abilities disabilities.

Born in Pisa, Italy, she entered religious life at age 18. She had degrees and certificates from various Italian institutions in teaching, nursing and Italian literature, as well as a Master of Science in administration and special education. Before coming to South Florida, she was a high school principal, mistress of postulants, visitor general, secretary general and counselor for her religious community.
