St. Theresa School dedicated its morning prayer and reflection Sept. 28 to Jose Fernandez, 24, pitcher of the Marlins baseball team, and his two friends, Miami residents Emilio Macias, 27, and Eduardo Rivero, 25.

CORAL GABLES | St. Theresa School dedicated its morning prayer and reflection Sept. 28 to Jose Fernandez, 24, pitcher of the Marlins baseball team, and his two friends, Miami residents Emilio Macias, 27, and Eduardo Rivero, 25.
The three died when their 32-foot boat struck the jetty off Government Cut channel near Miami Beach early on the morning of Sept. 25.
The students, teachers and staff offered one minute of silence for all three who died. Also, students and staff wore their Marlins jerseys and Marlins colors.
Macias was the fiancé of a St. Theresa student's cousin.
"We are very saddened by the loss of these Miami residents and our school community is praying for them and their families," said the school's principal, Carmelite Sister Rosalie Nagy.
