PARKLAND | Mary Help of Christians School has earned national recognition as a Master School in Renaissance Learning's Accelerated Reading program. The honor denotes outstanding performance in advancing reading practice and proficiency among students: In fact, 19 of the schools classes were awarded Model Classroom Certification and 14 classes received Master Classroom Certification.

Mary Help of Christians is the only Catholic school in the archdiocese to reach the Master level. Three other archdiocesan schools have reached the Model level: Our Lady of the Lakes, in Miami Lakes, Nativity and St. Bernadette in Hollywood.

We are very proud of all of the students efforts and achievements this school year," said Stephen Brown, Mary Help of Christians' principal. "By putting in hard work and dedication to the goals of the class, MHOC students worked together to achieve this very elite status.

My daughter, Gillian, has been a student in MHOC since 1st grade which makes me so proud that this school received this well earned recognition. Gillian is an avid reader and loves the English language, gets upset when words are used incorrectly and loves learning new words. Thank you to all her reading teachers, your time and effort was not wasted on her.
