MIAMI | Three years ago, St. Brendan Elementary developed “Knocking on Someone’s Door,” a program in which each grade level adopts a charity to support throughout the year. This year, the third graders have chosen “Adopt-a-Platoon” as their charity. They wrote letters and brought in snacks to help U.S. soldiers overseas feel appreciated. They will send care packages to their “adopted” platoon throughout the year.
