HOLLYWOOD | Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory, a Catholic school in the Marianist tradition, will host a special evening Saturday, May 3, to honor three alumni who have exemplified the highest achievements both on and off the sports field.
Chaminade-Madonna established the Sports Hall of Fame Award in 1985 to acknowledge alumni who were outstanding athletes during their time at school, or became professionals in the field of sports. Recipients have become great roles models for current and future Chaminade-Madonna students. Since its inception, 104 men and women have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, including former NFL player and Cincinnati Bengals coach David Shula ('77), Fox Sports commentator Chris Myers ('77), voice of the University of Miami Hurricanes Joe Zagacki ('80), and Dan LeBatard ('86), host of ESPN's Dan LeBatard is Highly Questionable .
Specially selected by a committee of their peers, the 2014 inductees include a football and basketball star, as well as the founder of C-M's Weight Lifting Club, Richard Roselli '72; all-around standout athlete Robert Tug Waddell '79; and current NFL linebacker for the New York Giants, Jonathan Beason '03. Tickets for the event are still available by visiting, www.cmlions.org/shof.
During his time at C-M, Beason was a star on the basketball court and track as well as on the football field. As a senior, he rushed for 811 yards, made 12 touchdowns, and had 75 interceptions on defense. Beason went on to play football at the University of Miami, majoring in sports administration. In 2007, he was a first-round draft pick by the Carolina Panthers. He went on to finish second in the league for defensive tackles by a NFL rookie, with 140 tackles. During his next two seasons, was selected for the NFL Pro Bowl and as an AP All-Pro. In 2011 Beason and the Panthers agreed to a deal that made him the highest paid middle linebacker in the NFL. In 2013, Beason was traded to the NY Giants and has continued to be a success for the franchise. He currently lives in New York, but often visits his family in the Miramar area.
Roselli was a standout member of the basketball team for three years and of the football and baseball team for all four of his years at Chaminade High School; his outstanding leadership qualities landed him the title of captain of the baseball team. Beyond the field, Roselli excelled in the classroom as well, attaining first honors all four years, becoming a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and Drama Club. Roselli went on to graduate from Tulane University and become a successful lawyer, gaining recognition in his field and becoming president of the Florida Justice Association. His commitment to C-M has continued through his involvement and generous support of the school.

Waddell has a long history of dedication to not only his athletics, but to the communities of which he is a part. During his time at Chaminade High School, Waddell lettered all four years in football and three years in both baseball and basketball. During the 1978 season, his time on the football field playing offensive, defensive and special teams landed him the accolade of Hollywood Suntattler Player of the Year. His accomplishments on the field did not diminish after graduation, as Waddell continued participating in both football and track at Northwestern State University. Waddell currently sits on the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County committees and has also dedicated time to the athletics program at C-M by not only raising money but also helping improve the school's technology.
