Holy Cross Hospital names Volunteer of the Year

FORT LAUDERDALE | Fort Lauderdale resident Shirley Healy has been named Holy Cross Hospital�s Volunteer of the Year, in recognition for her 23 years of service to the non-profit hospital.

�One of the marks of success of any organization is cultivating people who are loyal and devoted and Shirley certainly has shown her loyalty and devotion to Holy Cross Hospital,� said the hospital's president and CEO, Dr. Patrick A. Taylor. �We appreciate Shirley and all of our volunteers and the time they dedicate to the mission of Holy Cross, serving patients and assisting our associates.�

Healy volunteers in the hospital�s spiritual care department, where she visits patients and serves as an extraordinary minister of Communion. She was chosen over 11 other Volunteers of the Month for the 2012-2013 time frame. These dozen volunteers were nominated by their peers or associates for one or more of the following: consistent achievement over a sustained period, a specific outstanding contribution, prudent use of human and financial resources, dedication and innovation, excellence in guest relations.

Healy and the more than 200 other Holy Cross volunteers were honored during the hospital's recent Volunteer Appreciation and Service Awards  Luncheon at the Bahia Mar Resort. Other notable honorees were 40-year volunteer Anna Windsor, 30,000-hour volunteers Jane Conti, Maxine Holzworth, and Mary Kalis, and 50,000-hour volunteer Elinor Stephens.
