HALLANDALE BEACH | Archbishop Thomas Wenski joined thousands of motorcyclists Dec. 9 in the 25th annual South Florida President's Council Toys in the Sun Run. Riders paid a $10 entry fee and brought one new unwrapped toy per person. The proceeds benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation in Hollywood. More than 250 police officers in cars and on motorcycles escorted the world's largest motorcycle parade - an estimated 30,000 bikes -from the Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach to Markham Park in Sunrise where the party included non-stop live music on two stages, a motorcycle, car and truck show, and more than 100 food and merchandise vendors. Sponsors of the event included 99.9 KISS Country, Fort Lauderdale Harley-Davidson, Peterson's Harley-Davidson, Community Bank of Broward, Truly Nolen, Jagermeister, Broward County Parks and Recreation, Miami Mike's Wheels on the Road magazine and Trailer in a Bag.
