Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is hiring for an Academic Support Coordinator. The position plays a critical role in advancing the academic success of students by providing comprehensive support in the areas of academic probation, remediation, educational technology, and standardized testing. This individual will oversee and implement strategies to support students with identified learning needs, monitor academic progress, and collaborate with faculty to ensure all students are meeting grade-level benchmarks. The candidate performs all duties in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor students on academic probation, develop individualized improvement plans, track progress, and regularly communicate with students, parents, and faculty to ensure accountability and growth.
- Teach two remediation classes focused on developing foundational skills in reading, writing, or mathematics based on student needs.
- and support the integration of educational technology tools in classrooms; provide training and troubleshooting support to faculty and students.
- Facilitate all school-based testing including accommodations for standardized assessments, internal benchmark assessments, and placement exams.
- Assist the leadership in managing all educational support plans and ensure compliance with accommodations and modifications.
- Support faculty by evaluating student performance and offering strategies for differentiation and intervention.
- Collaborate with Department Chairs and the Instructional Team to address cohort learning trends and develop targeted support initiatives.
- Participate in the admissions process by reviewing and providing input on prospective students with diagnosed learning differences or special education needs.
- Organize and lead meetings with parents and staff to evaluate student progress and adapt support strategies as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records, support plans, and progress data.
- If trained and certified, provide Educational Therapy in alignment with NILD standards for qualifying students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree in a related field or a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with students with learning differences or developmental needs (required).
- Experience in instructional remediation, academic intervention, or special education.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with or willingness to be trained in educational therapy models such as NILD (preferred).
- Proficiency with educational software and digital learning platforms.
- Must have a professional demeanor.
