Archbishop Thomas Wenski participates in press conference with Florida Governor against Amendment 4

Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables hosted the event

MIAMI | Archbishop Thomas Wenski joined Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in a press conference opposing Amendment 4, Oct. 21 at St. Theresa's Church, known as Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables.

“The event was to call attention to Amendment 4 and ask people to vote No on it”, said Juan di Prado, director of the archdiocesan Office of Communications.

Also participating in the conference were a group of physicians who are against Amendment 4, lieutenant governor Jeanette Nunez, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and other local leaders. Also present were St. Theresa's clergy, including pastor Father Manny Alvarez, parochial vicar Father David Zallocco, and the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles, who are in charge of next-door St. Theresa School. Archbishop Wenski offered the closing prayer.

Amendment 4 – a proposed amendment to the Florida state constitution that will be on the ballot this November – “would enshrine unregulated abortion in our state constitution, making Florida one of the most pro-abortion states in the nation,” according to the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops (FLCCB).
