Toni Jane Pallatto - St. Theresa School (Little Flower)
CORAL GABLES | The Church of the Little Flower has partnered with Steinway & Sons to launch a new concert series, to be presented by Steinway.
The kickoff concert will feature Argentine jazz and classical pianist Raul Di Blasio and take place Saturday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m. in the church’s historic Comber Hall.
“He is very popular with the South Florida community, and we are pleased to host him at our first Little Flower Concert Series. He will be playing on a Steinway D Concert Grand,” said Luis Cuza, associate director of music for the parish.
He noted that “Steinway has over 1,600 artists from every genre of music,” including Di Blasio, classical pianist Lang Lang and jazz pianist Diana Krall.
Concert guests can select the VIP Experience, with exclusive concert seating and a “meet and greet” with Di Blasio after the concert, Cuza said. A Fancy Fiesta is catering the post-concert reception. Priority seating is also available.
Cuza is the driving force behind the Little Flower Concert Series. He joined Little Flower’s staff in fall 2016, after serving as music director at St. Brendan High School in Miami. He has a bachelor degree in organ from FIU, and his mentor is Joanne Norman Schulte, longtime parishioner of Little Flower and alumna of St. Theresa School.
The concert series will help raise funds for the acquistion of a new Steinway B piano for the church.
“If you visit www.COTLF.steinwayfund.com, you can sponsor one of 88 keys of our anticipated new Steinway piano,” said Father Michael Davis, pastor.
“For a donation of $1,200, you have the opportunity to directly enhance our liturgies and get us one key closer to a prestigious and elegant piano,” added Cuza.
