HALLANDALE | After saying a prayer with a local rabbi and fellow biker, Archbishop Thomas Wenski got on his Harley and joined 30,000 South Florida motorcycle enthusiasts for the 27th annual Toys in the Sun Run Dec. 7.

The roaring spectacle started at the Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach and ended at Markham Park in Sunrise. Price of admission: $10 and a new toy for a needy child. Proceeds benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation in Hollywood.

In his prayer, Archbishop Wenski asked for blessings on the families of those receiving the toys. Rabbi Howard Needleman, of Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El in Plantation, prayed for the safety of the riders and for blessings on all the participants.

This is the third year since returning to Miami that Archbishop Wenski takes part in the ride.
