HIALEAH | On the anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, the students, faculty and staff of Immaculate Conception School gathered to commemorate the heroes that were lost and fallen. Joined by numerous members of the Hialeah Fire Department, they raised the flag and also a prayer. At the school Mass that day, the pews were filled with students, faculty and staff wearing red, white and blue to honor America's "patriots."
A day before, the school also celebrated "Dolphins Day" in honor of the first official day of the NFL season, Sept. 10. Students, faculty and administration dressed in their favorite Miami Dolphins football gear to support the home team. Father Manuel Alvarez, the pastor at Immaculate, has been the Dolphins' team chaplain since 2012, making everyone there feel a very special connection to the team.
