An accomplished team of eighth graders represented St. Theresa School at the IX Annual Academic Olympics at Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School. At the academic Olympics, the participants, all eighth-graders, took individual tests in the various subject areas and the top three scoring schools went on to a �Jeopardy� style competition. St. Theresa�s students brought home lots of gold. The participants and medalists for each subject were:
� English: Melissa Limia, gold, and Nicholas Austin
� Math: Lourdes Brea, gold, and Kevin Snihur
� Social studies: Alexandra Gonzalez, gold, and Michael Sanchez, silver
� Science: Sofia Davalos, bronze, and Andres Molina
� Spanish: Andreina Rojas, gold, and Joseph Vargas
� Theology: Kathryn Mellinger, gold, and Adam Torres, bronze
Earning a fourth place for St. Theresa School at the DAANS spelling bee were Gabriela Jimenez, Gabriela Gonzalez, Brennen Lopez, Diego Gomez and Cristina Otero.
St. Theresa School was founded in 1925. It is fully accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference and recognized by the National Council for Private School accreditation. It has been under the administration of the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles since 1991.
