SOUTHWEST RANCHES | Twenty students from Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School have been selected by the prestigious National Merit Program.
The Archbishop McCarthy National Merit Award Finalists and National Merit Award Commended are listed below. Some students received additional awards in the categories of National Hispanic Recognition and National Achievement Scholar.
National Merit Award Finalists:
- Gabriel Cabrera-Cruz - National Merit Award Finalist and National Hispanic Recognition. Gabriel will attend University of Alabama and major in mechanical engineering.
- Nicolas Covone - National Merit Award Finalist. Nicolas will attend Johns Hopkins University and major in chemical engineering.
- Matthew Tribby - National Merit Award Finalist. Matthew will attend Duke University and major in economics and bio-medical engineering.
- Maria Uribasterra - National Merit Award Finalist and National Hispanic Recognition. Maria will attend University of Florida and major in biology.
