Belen Jesuit Prep�s crew team had its best performance ever at the Scholastic National Regatta held in Princeton, N.J., May 23-24, securing two national championships along with two gold and two silver medals.
For the first time in the school�s history, eight Belen Jesuit boats, consisting of 42 Belen rowers, qualified to compete in the lightweight category. The winning crews were:
The team�s chaplain, Jesuit Father Ernesto Fernandez-Travieso, traveled with the athletes and provided spiritual support by celebrating a special Mass for the team on Friday evening.
�Our rowers enjoyed the opportunity to interact and compete with other Jesuit crews from around the country,� said coach Yunian Cabrera.
Belen�s crews now head to the last regatta of the season, the US Rowing Youth National Championship in Sacramento, Calif., June 13-15.

- Gold medal, Varsity 2x: Joey Armengol and Hector Formoso
- Gold medal, Varsity 4+: Joseph Perez, Daniel Brennan, Christian Burke, Alejandro Seda and cox Fernando Pinera
- Silver medal, Varsity 4x: Nicholas Thompson, Nicolas Waterhouse, Alex Vidal and Joseph Garcia
- Silver medal, Varsity 8+: Nicolas Fernandez, Daniel Ugas, Nick Keenan, Alec Keenan, Andres Fernandez, Ben Gilbert, Joseph Menendez, Manny Sanchez and cox Miguel Zaldivar.
