MIAMI | The Cuban Association of the Order of Malta invested several new members June 14 during a Mass celebrated at St. Mary Cathedral by Archbishop Thomas Wenski. The investiture ceremony coincided with the group's annual general chapter meeting.
Archbishop Wenski is the association's chief chaplain and a member of the order as Conventual Chaplain ad honorem since 1999. The new members are: Knights Luis Perez, Felix Caceres II, Jason Poblete, George Hillyer, Dame Maria Valentina Calvo, and Chaplain Father Richard Vigoa.

After the Mass, the participating Knights and Dames held their annual chapter meeting, followed by a confraternity dinner at Coral Gables Country Club, with more than 60 in attendance.
The Cuban Association was established in Havana in 1952 and reorganized in Miami in the 1990s to help the poor and the sick, mainly at St. Juan Bosco Parish in Little Havana. The group now has 114 members, with three living in Cuba. See www.ordendemaltacuba.com for more information.
